James begins his first day in Glasgow and is unhappy as he manages to falls foul of his teachers. He also manages to antagonise some local tradesmen, and he is left homeless after the woman he was hoping to stay with run off with his rent money. James ends up getting his first patient; an ailing dray horse that he sees is being mistreated by a haulier.
