1964 - 1: 22nd August 1964

The very first edition of "Match of the Day" between Liverpool and Arsenal played at Angield on 22nd August 1964. It was the height of Beatlemania and Liverpool were Division One Champions while Arsenal were suffering an early sixties slump.
