Renko investigates evidence uncovered by DCS Roland Bell that suggests both Hicks and Butler were corrupt. A disillusioned former aid worker who believes the truth about Hard Sun wants to challenge God into revealing himself by targeting victims who help others. The spree killer confesses his sins to his Priest, Father Dennis, but the sanctity of the confessional complicates Hicks and Renko's investigation. After his visit from Grace, Daniel asks Renko what Hard Sun is and wants to know the truth about his father. Grace makes Hicks an offer.
